    Buy and rent back (BARB)

"BARB" is a simple way to integrate your existing devices into our DaaS rental program. We buy the devices from you and rent them back to you fully serviced.

Buy and Rent Back – Device-as-a-Service

    Migration to DaaS

Many companies want to source their smartphones and tablets as Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) in the future. The advantages are obvious: predictable costs, less administrative effort, and a clearly structured device lifecycle.

With Buy-and-rent-back (BARB), Everphone has a simple solution. We buy your existing devices and integrate them directly into our service model. For your employees, nothing changes at first – the devices remain in use. This way, the switch to Device-as-a-Service succeeds without device disruption, without replacement pressure, and without interrupting daily work.

    Fleet modernization: Strategy

    Fleet modernization: Strategy

BARB enables a smooth migration to Device-as-a-Service without having to replace existing device fleets immediately.

    Integration instead of replacement

Existing smartphones and tablets become part of the Everphone service level.

    Gradual modernization

Devices can be replaced over time in a structured way – without a large one-time exchange.

    Release liquidity

By purchasing the devices, tied-up capital is freed again.

    Unified management

New and existing devices run in a single service model.

    Fleet modernization: Steps

    Fleet modernization: Steps

The process is deliberately simple and can be implemented in just a few steps.

    1

    BARB Assessment

First, we jointly record which devices and how many devices are currently in use in your organization. Based on this information, we can evaluate the device inventory and create a realistic offer.

    2

    Offer

Then we create an offer for the BARB sale. The price is based on the device models, the number of devices, and the remaining residual value. We rate the devices without grading uniformly as "good" to keep the process as simple and transparent as possible.

    3

    Sale

If you accept the offer, Everphone purchases your devices. From this point on, Everphone is the owner of the devices.

    4

    Rent-back

Immediately after the purchase, the devices are rented back to you and become part of your Device-as-a-Service contract.

    For your employees, this means:

    No device swap action
    No interruption of usage
    No change in daily work

Everyone simply continues working with their devices.

    BARB in practice

    Fleet modernization piece by piece

The ownership change only happens on paper: Your team can continue working with the devices without interruption. The BARB smartphones and tablets are included in Everphone service from the moment of sale. This includes free device replacement in case of defects.

The advantage with BARB: devices can receive an upgrade after just one month – meaning they can be exchanged for a brand-new model from the Everphone portfolio. In practice, this means: when team members' devices break or they simply want a newer one, Everphone replaces the legacy device. This results in a smooth modernization of your entire fleet. Without a big bang and without stacks of IT tickets: we take care of everything.

A BARB example In our case study, you can read how Cologne/Bonn Airport GmbH renewed their entire smartphone fleet using BARB following exactly this pattern. The airport company equips around 500 employees with smartphones.
