AirWatch is a US software manufacturer from Sandy Springs (near Atlanta, Georgia). The company is best known for its MDM software of the same name and is now part of VMware Incorporation.
AirWatch was founded in 2003 as "Wandering WiFi". In 2013, AirWatch bought the Mobility Services Platform (MSP) from Motorola. In 2014, the company was acquired by VMware and renamed "VMware AirWatch".
The MDM software of the same name was also renamed in mid-2018, to Workspace ONE. The AirWatch name was then only retained as part of "AirWatch Express", an MDM solution for SMEs. In addition, the name AirWatch is referenced in the product name "Workspace ONE Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) based on AirWatch".
