Protection class of electronic devices

IP67 (IP = International Protection) is a code for a protection class of electrical devices, i.e. the suitability of electrical equipment (for example smartphones) for various environmental conditions.

In relation to mobile devices, this usually refers to the housing protection: In the narrower sense, this means shock resistance, water resistance and dust resistance. The IP code consists of two digits and two optional code letters.

  • First code number: 6 = dust-tight
  • Second code number: 7 = protected against temporary submersion (up to a maximum water depth of 1 meter).
