IP68 (IP = International Protection) is a code for a protection class of electrical devices, i.e. the suitability of electrical equipment (for example smartphones) for various environmental conditions.
In relation to mobile devices, this usually refers to the protection of the casing: In a narrower sense, this means shock resistance, water resistance and dust resistance.
The IP code consists of two digits and two optional letters.
- First code number:
6 = dust-tight
- Second code number:
8 = protected against permanent submersion (1 meter water depth or more).
