Our glossary explains basic terms and abbreviations relating to mobile working, the use of smartphones and tablets in the corporate environment (Enterprise Mobility) and security aspects in the use of mobile devices.
In the context of mobile application management, a whitelist (also known as a white list or positive list) is a list of mobile apps that have been approved in advance by the IT administrator. Users can then install these apps on their smartphone or in their work profile from the enterprise app store.
The opposite approach, i.e., a negative list of apps that are blocked on the company cell phone for security reasons, is called a blacklist.
