What is an MDM?
An MDM is a software solution for enterprise mobile device management. An MDM facilitates the setup and management of smartphones and allows the pre-configuration of company-relevant productivity apps.
In most cases, MDM solutions are integrated into an EMM solution (EMM = Enterprise Mobility Management) and therefore offer functions that go beyond the mere inventory of company cell phones. MDM are now mostly cloud-based management interfaces with encrypted connectivity that run smoothly even in large IT environments.
Typical MDM properties (features) are:
- Remote Lockdown
- Remote Wipe
- Mobile Application Management
- App wrapping
- Mobile operating system update management
- and much more.
If you have specific questions about how to support the digitization of your business processes with mobile devices and applications, please contact us. We will be happy to advise you.
There are numerous MDM vendors (that is, manufacturers of MDM software).
- AppTec 360°
- IBM (MaaS360)
- Microsoft Intune
- Scalefusion (MobiLock Pro)
- Soti MobiControl
