Capex to Opex

Apportionment method

“Capex to opex” means the shift from capital expenditure (“capex”) to operational expenditure (“opex”).

In IT, for example, this can be done by shifting on-premise investments (such as the purchase of a server) to a cloud solution or a managed service.

Another example would be renting mobile devices instead of buying them, which is the basic concept in Everphone’s “Device as a Service”.
