iOS
Mobile operating system of Apple smartphones
iOS (OS for Operating System) is the proprietary manufacturer-specific mobile operating system for mobile devices from the manufacturer Apple. It is used in Apple’s smartphones, the so-called iPhones. iPads (tablets from Apple) are using an own iOS derivate since 2019, which is called iPadOS.
Together with Android, iOS is effectively one of the only two mobile operating systems in widespread use. The market share of iOS has fluctuated between about 15 and 20 percent over the years. In business environments, this figure is considerably higher.
