Criminal act using IT infrastructure
Cybercrime is the commission of criminal acts using IT infrastructure such as smartphones or computers. If this involves data transmission via the world wide web, it is also referred to as “internet crime”.
In the corporate environment, the spying of data (data theft, industrial espionage), the use of extortion software (ransomware) and identity theft are particularly common forms of cybercrime.
